News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Softball team has a tough week

Sisters lost 10-6 to undefeated Capital Conference leader Cascade on Tuesday, April 26.

Senior Cortney Peter’s double to right center field in the third inning and freshman Camille Pedersen’s single in the fourth were the only two hits the Lady Outlaws could muster.

On the downside, freshman pitcher Sammy Stoneback was knocked out of the game in the fifth inning with an injury after taking a line drive to the ribs.

“We hung with them for the first few innings,” said Coach Doug McDonald, “but when we lost Sam we kind of fell apart. It looks like she’s going to be okay. She’s a tough kid, but it was scary for a moment there.”

McDonald added, “Cascade’s a solid team. There’s a reason they’re undefeated.”

The Lady Outlaws lost 4-1 at Stayton on Thursday just two days later.

Michaela Bennett made her first varsity start of the season and scattered four hits over the game but it wasn’t enough to hold up against the second place Eagles.

The lone Outlaw run came on a bases-loaded walk by Kym Johns in the fifth inning.

Courtney Metcalf had two singles and Cortney Peters had one single in the game.

“Our defense played an outstanding game,” said McDonald.

“Our infield and pitching have kept us in most games but we unfortunately aren’t scoring runs.”
