School candidate reports funding

Only one of the four candidates for the Sisters School Board in the current election has filed a “contributions and expenditures” (C&E) report with the Deschutes County Clerk. This indicates that none of the others expects to reach the $300 spending level that makes such a report mandatory under state election law.

Ballots were mailed out during the last week of April and must be returned by election day — next Tuesday, May 17.

The sole C&E filer is Rob Corrigan, who as of May 2 had spent $2,245 on his campaign for Position 1, which is being vacated by Eric Dolson. In the only contest for a board seat, Corrigan is opposed by Jeff Haken.

Board Chairman Glen Lasken is unopposed in seeking re-election to Position 5 and Mike Gould has a similar free ride seeking Position 2, which is being vacated by Bill Reed.

According to his latest report, the chief contributor to Corrigan’s campaign is the person he hopes to succeed, out-going school board member Eric Dolson, who put up $500 cash. The only other contributions above $50 were $470 from Realtor Peter Storton (listed as an “in-kind” contribution) and $101 from real estate developer Bill Willitts.

Corrigan also reported receiving $280 in cash contributions of less than $50 each, whose donors do not have to be listed.

He noted $2,245 in total expenditures and $1,411 in contributions, leaving a temporary deficit of $835.

County Clerk Nancy Blankenship says final C&E reports are due by June 16.
