Sisters Folk Festival receives Oregon Arts Commission grant

The Sisters Folk Festival, marking its 10th anniversary this September, has received an Oregon Arts Commission Recognition Grant.

These awards serve as a visible indication of Arts Commission support and will assist in raising an organization’s profile in leveraging other funds and resources.

The program brings recognition to the many arts organizations in Oregon which have not received funding from the commission due to reductions in public funding.

“Statewide recognition of high quality arts programs can reinforce efforts underway by arts groups to increase resources, stabilize programs and start new initiatives,” said Christine D’Arcy, Executive Director for the Oregon Arts Commission.

The Festival has a rousing line-up of acts set to hit the stage on September 9-11. The Subdudes, one of the most exciting bands in the world of acoustic music, will headline the Festival, along with The Bills, The Marc Atkinson Trio, and Ruthie Foster.

The Sisters Folk Festival 2005 also features legendary singer-songwriter John Gorka, Paul Thorn, Tracy Grammer, Misty River, The Foghorn Stringband and many other top-flight performers from the regional and national folk music scenes.
