Youth theater group offers one-act play

The Bend Theatre for Young People has announced it’s final play production of the season. CUPIVAC, a science-fiction fantasy in one act, will be performed by the Sisters Play Production Class combining the talents of elementary and middle-school students.

The audience will join in the fun as the evil Dr. Mentor takes over the Cloud 9 matchmaking service while Daniel Cupid is on vacation. Mentor and his wicked sidekick, Igor, have created a computer to mismatch all the beloved characters from classic children’s literature.

Alice in Wonderland is matched with the Hunchback of Notre Dame, Robin Hood with Mary Poppins and Sleeping Beauty is mismatched with Rip Van Winkle. The Pixies on Cloud 9 are terrified! Where will Dr. Mentor stop?

Performances will be held at Sisters Community Church on Highway 242 1/8 mile west of Sisters on Saturday, June 4, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the door: $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12.

Summer acting classes and play productions will be offered for students in grades 4-12 August 8-26. To pre-register send a non-refundable deposit of $20 to BTYP in Sisters, 68843 Butte Place, Sisters, OR 97759.
