Sisters historically has been well represented at the Deschutes County 4-H horse fair, and this year was no exception. Three Sisters girls, Jennifer Friend, Rachel Pilliod and Annie Hancock, participated in the senior division (ages 15-18) and all will be representing their county at the Oregon State Fair.
Friend showed two horses this year: Travis took her through the performance classes and Brick propelled her around the games courses.
On Travis, Friend collected senior reserve champion dressage, all-around reserve grand champion dressage, senior English equitation champion, grand champion English equitation, senior champion jumping, and was the High Point Performance rider.
Brick helped Friend gather senior reserve champion in ranchmanship and was in the top 10 in ranch horse and gaming.
Friend will be going to State in showmanship, English equitation, jumping, dressage and barrel racing.
Rachel Pilliod’s horse is Bacardi, a five-year-old paint tobiano that Pilliod has trained from birth. She was senior reserve champion driving, senior champion trail and picked up blues in showmanship and western equitation and was in the top 10 in performance. She also picked up blues in the ranch horse events, consisting of cow working, roping, ranchmanship, and ranch horse pattern.
Pilliod will be going to State in showmanship, Western equitation, trail and driving.
Annie Hancock of Camp Sherman competes on her quarter horse, Shasta. Hancock came home with blues in showmanship, English equitation, Western equitation, and trail. She was also senior champion in showmanship and will travel to State for that class.
