News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters High School girls varsity soccer squad lost 3-2 to 4A Mt. View’s varsity team at home on Thursday, September 8.
It was an intense battle the entire game and Sisters came up short in the matchup.
Mt. View scored first off a penalty kick early in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. The Outlaws answered back with a goal from Liz Dale who got the assist from Katie Taylor.
“Liz has got great eyes,” said Coach Lee Bellahdid. “She took a shot from outside and toward the right post to score.”
Sisters scored again later in the second half on a penalty kick to take a 2-1 advantage.
Mt. View tied the game at 2-2 off a breakaway right before the whistle blew at the half.
Within the first 10 minutes of the second half Mt. View scored on another breakaway to take a 3-2 lead over the Lady Outlaws.
Sisters was held scoreless the second half and the contest ended with a 3-2 loss for the Outlaws.
Bellahdid said, “I think all the girls did their best today. They did what I asked them to do and that was to take every second of the game seriously and to play with the same intensity and determination the entire game.
“The game was pretty much even,” the coach noted.
“We had as many opportunities as them but they were able to score one more goal than us.”
Joining the varsity squad for the first time was Hattie Tehan. Tehan was pulled up from the JV team and will play at one of the forward positions.
The Lady Outlaws soccer team will travel to Valley Catholic on Saturday, September 17.
