News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
As an encore to the series of summer hikes led by women from Three Sisters Fellowship Church, three autumn hikes are scheduled in upcoming weeks.
Thursday, October 6, a group will depart at 9 a.m. from the church and drive west to traverse the five mile loop around Clear Lake located along the highway to Eugene. This level hike encircles sparkling Clear Lake and meanders through a lava flow and shady forests.
Vine maples should be in full color, providing a real taste of fall. The group expects to return around 2 p.m., so participants should pack a sack lunch.
Sunday, October 23 offers a three- or six-mile hike along the Metolius River. Plans are to leave about noon and return by 5 p.m. Hike length will be determined by those who show up. The trail is quite level and suitable for children with parental supervision. Once again, hikers should pack a sack lunch.
On Friday, November 4, the group provides an opportunity to hike near the heart of downtown Bend. This three-mile hike along the Deschutes River originates near Farewell Bend Park and makes a loop back to the starting point. Those interested should meet at 9 a.m. at the church. Participants may pack a lunch or go out together afterwards. For information call Kim Barry, 549-2934 or Deirdre Kanzig, 549-0920.
