Engineer presents water system plan

HGE Inc. of Coos Bay has filed its preliminary master plan for Sisters’ water system improvements.

According to City Manager Eileen Stein, the engineer’s plan was turned in last week. The firm is suggesting that Sisters drill another well and make improvements to the two existing wells in the short term.

A long-term recommendation is to build a second city reservoir.

The study was commissioned to help the city keep up with the demands of growth on its infrastructure. The city council will review the preliminary plan in November, Stein said.

Once the city decides how to improve its system, it will have to determine what portion of the improvements can be paid for through Systems Development Charges.

Similar planning is underway for the city’s sewer system (see story, page 31).
