News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The crafters in the Snowflake Boutique invite Sisters families to shop for the holidays and benefit FAN (Family Access Network) at the same time.
All of the profits of the 30th annual sale go to FAN, which is a network of health and social service providers, schools, community organizations and individuals who collaborate to build healthy communities.
The holiday sale will be held at Deschutes County Fairgrounds Friday and Saturday, November 4-5.
“We’re all moms. Anything that benefits children really hits home,” said the Snowflake Boutique’s publicity chair Pat Lamoureux. This is the third year the group has chosen to give its proceeds to FAN. FAN Advocates are stationed in every school in Deschutes County.
“You might just call this your one-stop shopping — there will be something for everyone!” said Lamoureux.
Gifts range from pottery, stained glass, jewelry, bird houses and jams to children’s clothing, candles and garden art. Lamoureux said there will also be good stocking stuffers.
Snowflake Boutique was started 30 years ago by Central Oregon women who loved to craft.
The women began holding the annual sale in their homes. When the show got too large, they moved it to the Fairgrounds. Through the years, they have tried to stick with their original goal of offering “unique, high-quality hand-crafted items.” Today, there are 25 members.
The Snowflake Boutique’s theme this year is “Diamonds and Pearls.”
The sale will be held in the High Desert Activity Center of the Fairgrounds in Redmond. Friday, November 4, the sale runs from 5 to 9 p.m. and includes complimentary hot cider for everyone. Saturday, November 5 the sale runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is $2.
