Sonrise Christian School is hosting its first Reformation Day Celebration on Monday, October 31, from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
The celebration is designed to commemorate the day that Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the church door at Wittenberg, Germany in 1517, thus beginning the Protestant Reformation.
Students have designed a number of booths to celebrate this event including, “Name That Relic,” “Medieval Games,” “Search for the Holy Grail,” and many others.
The program will begin with a short play that explains the significance of Luther’s action, and then attendees will have the opportunity to visit the booths and learn more about this time period in history.
All students will be in costumes of the Middle Ages and the public is also invited to attend, in costume, according to Sonrise staff.
Children up through eighth grade are welcome to come with parents and join in celebrating this pivotal moment in history.
