Volunteers clean up business district

They came armed with garden gloves and a few hand tools, some 34 strong to take on what has developed into an unsightly scourge in Sisters — litter.

Jeff Perin, owner of The Fly Fisher’s Place, organized the first semi-annual clean-up day on Sunday, October 23, after he approached the City of Sisters about the growing litter problem he saw developing in the business district.

Taking the bull by the horns, Perin partnered with SOLV (Stop Oregon Litter and Vandalism), which provided trash bags for the volunteers. Keith Banning of Fire Ready hauled the filled bags away.

Perin expressed astonishment at the strong turnout and expressed hope that folks will keep the beauty spot of Sisters looking good.
