News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters High School JV volleyball team lost only one match this season and that was to the Stayton Eagles early in the season. Sisters beat the Eagles in their second contest.
“It was gratifying to beat them (Stayton) the second time around,” said Coach Diane Bremer, “as our goal was to go undefeated this season.”
Sam Stoneback was the setter for the Outlaw 5-1 offense and did an outstanding job throughout the year.
“Aside from the numerous assists she racked up over the season,” said Bremer, “she was a very effective server with the ability to serve any position on the court. She scored a lot of points for us.”
Playing at the middle position were Rachel Tennison and Joelle Hamilton. According to Bremer, Hamilton made huge improvements in her game, was the hardest-working player on the team and did a great job blocking.
Bremer said, “Rachel (Tennison) was definitely our ‘put-the-ball-away’ girl. She had a tremendous amount of kills this year and will be very exciting to watch next year.”
Amanda Wimer, Victoria Miller, Shasta Hyland and Savannah McBride all shared time at the outside hitter position.
“All four of these girls are great team players and each stepped on the court at crucial times and performed well for us,” said Bremer.
Meghan Crowder and Brook Goins played all the way around for the Lady Outlaws.
“Their (Crowder and Goins) performance on the court was consistent and really helped us to gel as a team,” said Bremer.
Aria Garau played libero and did a great job all season long. Garau was a big part of making the Outlaw defense run.
Bremer said, “A highlight for JV volleyball this year was beating Mountain View in their tournament this year. We had played them in a previous tournament and lost. They are a very tough team, but we got another shot at them at the Mountain View JV tournament and we beat them. The girls were really fired up and played amazing defense.”
Bremer told The Nugget she had fun with this group of girls over the course of the season and looks forward to watching them in the future and seeing their game develop.
