Knitwits display wares at Art Hop

The November first-Friday Art Hop in Bend turned into an exciting evening for five members of the Knitwits after-school knitting club from Sisters Middle School.

They were the featured artists at Jill’s Wild Tasteful Women and Friends Gallery in Bend on Friday evening, November 4.

The girls met artist and gallery owner Jill Neal when she purchased some scarves from them at the Harvest Faire in Sisters. Impressed with the quality and value of their products, she invited them to the November Art Hop as her featured artists. The girls displayed over 50 hand-knit items and sold several of them that evening, donating a portion of their sales to the club.

“It was fun selling things we made in an art gallery,” said Courtney Blust, a sixth grade student.

“I felt very honored that the Knitwits were the featured artists at Jill’s gallery. It was really fun, and Jill was so nice,” added Janelle Hjelm-stad, an eighth grader.

The girls have been invited for a return appearance on Saturday, December 10, from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.

The gallery is located in St. Claire’s Place in downtown Bend. Middle school students interested in joining the Knitwits club should contact Tricia Biesmann or Julie Patton at Sisters Middle School, 549-2099.
