News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters Starry Nights Benefit Concert Series will return for its ninth season with two shows in 2006. Event organizers are currently finalizing arrangements with performers and their management and the lineup and dates will be announced shortly.
“We have been working on the shows for several months and were hoping that we would have had the dates confirmed by now,” said Starry Nights Co-Chair Jeri Fouts. “We have a great pair of shows planned and I think our sponsors and audience will agree it was worth the wait once we get everything finalized.”
Headliners for Starry Nights donate their time to raise funds for the Sisters Schools Foundation. After last year’s series, the Starry Nights surpassed the half million dollar mark in net revenues since its inception in 1997.
Among the past performers who have participated in Starry Nights are such artists as Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Lee Ann Womack, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Kim Carnes, Kathy Mattea, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, John Hiatt, Suzy Bogguss and Carolyn Dawn Johnson.
“We are so fortunate that artists like this are committed to making the journey to Sisters and giving their time to help the students of our school district,” said Starry Nights Co-Chair and Sisters Schools Foundation Chair Susan Arends.
“Year after year, we have been able to provide vital funding for programs and activities at our schools through this event and the generosity of our performers, volunteers, sponsors and supporters.”
Sponsorship proposals will be mailed to past sponsors by early December, according to Sponsorship Chairman Novella Swisher.
Those interested in becoming new sponsors should contact Swisher at 549-8018 or by email at [email protected] General admission tickets will go on sale after the first of the year at Leavitt’s Western Wear in Sisters.
