News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
• Sonrise Christian School auction chairpersons Chris Gurney and Dawn Richerson thanked everyone who supported the November 5 fund-raising auction, which made about $45,000 for the school.
“As usual, our own Sisters businesses were great supporters as were many Bend and a few Redmond businesses. In addition, Lynn and Kristi Miller (Small Farmer’s Journal) dedicated countless hours showing us how to run and organize a REAL silent and live auction, and their friends, Dennis and Kris Turmon, dedicated their professional auctioneering services.
“Redmond’s The Brand Ranch House served up a scrumptious dinner to over 360 people, including BBQ ribs and chicken and baked potatoes with all the fixings, while our favorite Booher Brothers (Ben, Brendan and Gabe) did a boot-stomping job of entertaining us.
“We also were blessed by the performances of former Sonrise students Lucas Denzer on piano and Jacob French on guitar as well as a heartwarming rendition of “God Bless America” by Sonrise’s very own kindergartener, Rylee Weber.
“Andy and Aaron Hartford, friends of Sonrise, took most of their day on Saturday to put together the Western set and their expertise was greatly appreciated.
“We were very fortunate to have Bob Thomas of Bend help us provide a VW Bug which was raffled off on Saturday night to lucky Sisters resident Keri Jo Raz.
“Finally, a special thanks to XPress Printing and Tony and Mary Allison Meyer for being so patient and flexible with all our printing needs.”
