News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Movie-goers in Sisters will see more than just a giant lion flashing up on the screen at the Sisters Movie House.
A furry and festive slide show presentation is being shown before each showing of “Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”
Erin Deggendorfer of Fast Creek Productions organized a special photo shoot as a fund-raiser for Furry Friends Pet Food Drive. Pet owners were invited to have their best furry friend photo taken with Santa, and more than 40 plus did just that at the grand opening of Sisters Art Works.
The photos turned out so well that event organizers thought they needed to be shared.
Moviehouse owner Lisa Clausen suggested a slide presentation to share with the community. Deggendorfer produced the show from photos taken by Conrad Weiler.
A combined effort of Sisters Rotary, Conrad Weiler of Sisters Camera Club, Dr. Kris Blodgett and Central Oregon Humane Society made the fund-raiser a success. With the Humane Society also donating their proceeds from the day, Furry Friends raised $250.
Furry Friends is still accepting donations. Pet food and goodie bags will be put together on Saturday, December 17. Dry cat and dog food and treats will be accepted up to Friday, December 16; cash donations will be accepted through the holidays. When you purchase large bags of dry pet food from Sisters Feed & Supply, they will deliver to The Nugget.
With 235 animals on the list to date (and the list is still growing), all donations are appreciated. Dog cookies, dry cat food and cat treats are currently the greatest need. Any additional cash received this year after all the food is purchased will go toward cat spay/neuter certificates through the Bend Spay & Neuter Project.
Families who signed up early may get a certificate by calling The Nugget office.
The Furry Friends Pet Food Drive runs in conjunction with the Kiwanis food drive and a fire department toy drive.
Ornaments for the toy drive remain on the Giving Tree at Ray’s Food Place.
