Sisters coffee stand helps toy drive

Folks in Sisters can get a discount on their favorite coffee or other beverage while donating to a worthy cause.

On Thursday and Friday, December 15-16, customers of Bright Spot Juice and Java will receive a 50-cent discount by bringing in a toy donation for the Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District and Kiwanis Club of Sisters Christmas toy drive, according to owner Deri Frazee.

“For each toy donated, a customer will receive a 50- cent discount on any of our beverages, including our specials,” Frazee explained.

Bright Spot Juice and Java is located at 130 N. Pine St. next to Sisters Car Wash.

Christmas toys donated are needed more than ever this year, according to Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire Marshal David Wheeler.

“After receiving Christmas toys for needy children from the Portland Fire Bureau for more than 20 years, we were notified last fall that no toys would be available from them this year,” Wheeler said.

Each December, the fire district works with the Kiwanis Club of Sisters to bring Christmas joy to children and their families in need, Wheeler explained.

“We use the same lists developed by the Kiwanis Club. They prepare the food boxes and we provide clothing contributed by local residents picking ornaments off the Christmas tree displayed at Ray’s Food Place. In the past, we have added toys for whatever age group we are contributing to, using toys provided by the Portland Fire Bureau.”

Cash donations for purchase of toys also are being accepted.

Contact Wheeler at 549-0771 for more information.
