SHS Class of 1996 will hold reunion

The Sisters High School Class of 1996 will hold its 10-year class reunion next summer over the weekend of June 24-25. The reunion will include a family afternoon gathering in Sisters and an evening get-together at McMenamins Old St. Francis School brew pub in downtown Bend.

Sisters High class of ’96 was the first freshman class in the new Sisters High School and the first class to attend SHS all four years of high school. Classes before them transferred to SHS from Redmond since Sisters did not have a high school until the fall of 1992. The class of ’96 was a small, tight-knit class of 66 people. Many attended school together in Sisters starting with preschool.

The SHS Class of ’96 Reunion is being organized by a committee of graduates including senior class president, Tirza Wibel (formerly Tirza Jensen). Wibel is looking for others to help with planning the event and is asking all class of ’96 graduates to contact her with their new contact information so that she can be sure that everyone gets an invitation. Invitations will be sent in early spring.

If you are a graduate of SHS class of ’96, contact Tirza Wibel as soon as possible by calling her at 503-873-0451 or e-mailing her at [email protected]

Wibel currently lives in Silverton, Oregon, a small town east of Salem. She has been married to her high school sweetheart Shane Wibel (a 1993 graduate of SHS) for almost seven years and has two daughters. She is a public relations and marketing director for an agency in Kentucky. She works from home. Other graduates from the class of ’96 include:

Tracy (McGregor) Funk — a soon-to-be doctor in medical school at OHSU; Charlene (Valdez) Huwe— an assistant church youth pastor living in Tualatin; Monica (Soto) Miller — a tourism professional living in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; Melinda Hughie — a child-life specialist and donor relations manager for St. Jude Children’s Hospital living in the Los Angeles area; Sally McGregor – married fellow class of ’96 graduate Nick Fouts and works as a public relations executive in Seattle, Washington; Shannon Bulloch — an elementary school teacher living in Bend; Zoey Tennesen Eck — a graphic designer living in Dallas, Texas; Heather Voss Dunn — a stay-at-home mom of two kids in Salem; Emily (Staines) Musch — a high school English teacher in Corvallis and new mother of a baby boy.

Teachers and staff from SHS are also welcome to attend the event.
