News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The winter edition of the Central Oregon Horse Journal (COHJ) is available in Sisters. The magazine covers the equestrian lifestyle of Central Oregon.
The current issue has stories on first response after a back country accident, profiles of local breeders, a feature on the Icelandic horse, a story about an endurance racing champion and more.
The magazine has two features on Sisters area residents. One profiles John Leavitt, who worked in a Wild West Show and competed in rodeos before opening Leavitt’s in Sisters. He still twirls a loop at the Sisters Rodeo.
A second story covers the way in which Sisters area resident Judy Bull turned her grief at the loss of her horse Irish into a touching story that has been widely used for grief counseling and has soothed many a soul saddened by the death of a loved one.
COHJ is published by The Nugget and is available at The Nugget office, Sisters Feed & Supply, Leavitt’s, Ray’s Food Place, the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce and other locations in Sisters.
