News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sisters has become an artistic center in Central Oregon. Dozens of local artists have gained regional, national and international reputations for their varied work.
But until now, Sisters area residents have not had a chance to see these artists’ work in one place.
The first comprehensive Sisters art exhibit in a single location can be viewed from January 21 to March 1 at the new Sisters Library.
The art exhibit is a main feature of the Grand Opening Celebration of the Sisters Library on Saturday, January 21.
More than 90 Sisters area artists are included in this first-ever display.
Throughout the show the library will have a binder containing a one-page biography of each artist and contact information. Many items shown will be for sale. Ten percent of the art sale proceeds will be donated to the Friends of the Sisters Library for future exhibits and art purchases for the library’s permanent collection.
Participants in the Grand Opening Celebration, which begins with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, will be able to meet and talk with many of the artists.
Deanna Robinson, Chairperson for the Friends of the Sisters Library Art Exhibit, said, “The library staff and Friends are making a great effort to ensure that the grand opening and what we hope will become an annual Sisters art exhibit are something to remember.”
