News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Registration for the 2006 season of Sisters Little League started this week. Play includes T-Ball, coach-pitch and player-pitch baseball for boys and girls and girls softball.
Information and registration forms are available at the SOAR office and can be downloaded from http://www.sisterslittleleague.org. Registration packets were mailed to all 180 of last year’s participants.
Completed registration forms, including fees, can be dropped off at SOAR or mailed back to Sisters Little League, P.O. Box 951, Sisters, OR 97759. The SOAR office is adjacent to Sisters High School at 1750 West McKinney Butte Road and is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Early registration (now through February 11) saves $5 per child.
“Early registration really helps the volunteer board organize the teams and recruit coaches,” said board member David Banks. “We also get the uniform order placed in time for spring play.”
Early registration fees range from $30 per child for T-Ball (age 5-7) to $70 per child for Juniors (age 13-14). Players registering for Minor A, Majors and Junior baseball need to provide a copy of their birth certificate with their registration form.
Regular registration runs February 12-20. Fees increase after February 20. For families with multiple players there is a $100 family maximum. The league offers a limited number of scholarships. Contact Chris Houck at 815-6796.
Tryouts for Minor A and Majors will be Saturday, March 4. The time and place will be adjusted for weather and will be announced soon, according to Banks. Tryouts help insure more parity on Sisters Little League teams.
The 2006 Sisters Little League season opens Saturday, April 22.
