News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Kody Johns is tough on the wrestling mat

Kody Johns (103 pounds) was the only bright spot in the Outlaws’ wrestling match against Sweet Home on Thursday, February 2.

Johns was the only Sisters wrestler to win his match in Sisters’ 78-3 loss against the Huskies. Johns won 6-0 by decision over Chris Farris, who is ranked number 12 in the state.

“Kody completely controlled him the entire match,” said Cosby. “Kody has defeated everyone he’s wrestled so far in the Capital Conference and I think he’s got a great chance to go to state. During practice he wrestles against some pretty tough kids, like Micheal (Calavan) and Nick (Head) and I think that’s helped. He’s a real competitor.”

According to Cosby the match lasted only 30 minutes.

Cosby said, “It was just unbelievable how quickly the match went. Everyone got pinned in the first round except for Kody.”

The Outlaw wrestlers will compete at District on Friday and Saturday, February 10-11 at Stayton.
