Kyle Rickards crowned 2006 Mr. SHS

Kyle Rickards was crowned Mr. SHS (Sisters High School) on Saturday, February 4.

Ten young men were involved in the annual competition: Scott Barton, Sam Pyke, Andy Burke, Jeff Fitter, Blake Poynor, Guy Mount, Justin Lefor, Dominick DeLeone, Harry Womack and Kyle Rickards.

The boys and their escorts collectively raised over $5,800 before the night of the pageant. With the proceeds from the door, the event brought in a grand total of more than $8,550, all of which will go to Doernbechers Children’s Hospital in Portland.

Doernbecher Children’s Hospital serves many children with life-threatening illnesses.

Rickards brought in over $1,900 and DeLeone raised nearly $1,400.

Each contestant was expected to compete in a talent competition, model formal attire, answer an interview question and work together to perform a “superhero dance” to the tune of “Men in Tights,” as well as raising money for Doernbechers.

Guy Mount was named Mr. Congeniality and Meghan Crowder was named Best Escort.

Formal attire for the evening was donated by Bend Wedding and Formal, Roberts on Wall Street and Antidote’s of Redmond. The escorts modeled gowns provided by Finders Keepers.

Mistresses of the ceremony were Audrey Tehan and Becky Bremer, who also wore gowns from Finders Keepers.

Many students from the high school leadership class and students on the technical support team helped make the program a success. The students from the leadership class wish to thank members of the community who donated money, prizes and/or their services in support of this event.
