News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

New Century 21 office opens in Sisters

A new real estate office has opened in Sisters. However, for many local residents, the new Century 21 agents are already familiar faces.

Kathy Gordon raised her family in Sisters and worked for 16 years as Sisters Elementary School secretary. She moved on to Multnomah Publishers and then was encouraged by her husband to try his profession — real estate.

Bryan Stevens is also known to many families through his career in Sisters schools. Stevens taught special education for 30 years and also coached baseball and softball here.

Century 21 Gold Country Realty franchise owner and broker Mike Gordon brings his real estate experience to his new office. As a longtime Central Oregon resident, Gordon has worked in this growing real estate market for more than 30 years. In 2000 he bought the Century 21 franchise and now owns offices in Bend, Redmond, Madras and Prineville. He has more than 80 agents in all his offices.

Gordon was interested in expanding his business to Sisters but knew he needed local people who were recognized in the community.

“As a company, we’re just excited to be in Sisters and have the right people,” said Gordon.

“There’s room for good agents who know the town and are willing to get out and talk to people,” Gordon added.

Kathy Gordon said this is an “educated market.” While serving as school secretary she fielded calls from families interested in moving to Sisters who wanted information about the schools. She says that, whether people move to Sisters for the top-quality schools or the natural beauty, they have made a conscious choice to live here.

“It’s a very sophisticated market for being such a small community,” said Kathy. “It’s not your typical little town.”

Stevens said his education career built personal communication skills while he worked with families through the years. It also taught him patience. Both Gordon and Stevens are looking forward to being active in their new careers while finding the flexibility to pursue church activities such as ministry trips.

“We’ll be working as a team and looking for a few select people,” said Mike Gordon.

The new team looks forward to having their Century 21 office involved in supporting some of the community activities in the town where they make their home. Owner Mike Gordon plans to split his time between his Redmond and Sisters offices.

The Century 21 business will represent both residential and commercial real estate. They opened their new office at 411 E. Cascade at the end of January and have already received calls and walk-ins.
