News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Former pastor Shane Hall was arrested on a warrant on Friday morning, February 17.
Hall, 34, is accused of sexual abuse of a minor. He was released from jail after his December 23 arrest on those charges after his mother posted $30,000 bond against $300,000 bail.
The warrant was for an alleged violation of Hall’s conditions of release.
Hall cannot attend church or go anywhere else where children congregate. He is not to drink alcohol or frequent bars because, the District Attorney claims, he was intoxicated at the time the offenses of which he is accused allegedly occurred.
Two Sisters residents allegedly reported that Hall was drinking beer at Bronco Billy’s Ranch Grill & Saloon on Saturday, February 11.
Deschutes County Sheriff’s Sergeant Deron McMaster acknowledged that employees at Bronco Billy’s did not identify Hall from a photo line-up.
“That’s not uncommon,” he said.
He said that one of the employees had left before Hall had allegedly arrived. As for two others interviewed, McMaster said, “they’re in there working” and Hall was “just one face in the crowd.”
“They may or may not have had contact with him,” he said.
Sergeant McMaster said that “the two people who did identify him had had previous contact with him. They knew who he was.”
Hall was taken into custody with bail set at $750,000. Hall’s attorney John Halpern, Jr. told The Nugget he does not believe Hall’s family plans to post bond.
Hall remained in custody at press time.
In a phone message to The Nugget, Shane Hall’s brother Rodger Hall said his brother was at their sisters’ house in LaPine at the time of the alleged violation.
Oregon State Police made the arrest on Friday at the same time that they reportedly served a search warrant related to alleged game violations by Hall.
