News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sisters Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration is welcoming a new rector after an 18-month search.
The Rev. Ted Rodrigues comes to the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration after serving 13 years as Rector of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Portland. During that time he has served on the Board of Trustees of the Diocese of Oregon, Diocesan Council, and was Dean of the Sunset Convocation. He was also a part of the National Church’s Clergy Leadership Project.
Before coming to Oregon he served six years in the Diocese of Northern California as vicar of St. Timothy’s in Gridley, working on many diocesan committees.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Rodrigues was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and is the oldest of five children. He attended California State University, Stanislaus, in Turlock, California, graduating with a degree in History.
He went to work for his family’s accounting firm, later opening his own bookkeeping and tax practice.
He entered the process for ordination while working and living in Paradise, California, and attended the Episcopal Seminary of Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California, graduating with a Master’s in Divinity.
While in Berkeley he met his wife Gayle (a Portland native). They were married in his second year at seminary and spent their first year of marriage in Buhl, Idaho, where Ted served fifteen months as an intern in charge of the congregation of Holy Trinity.
Outside of his work in the church, Rev. Rodrigues enjoys outdoor activities, especially biking and golf.
