Emily VanBlaricum scored 16 points to lead the Lady Outlaws basketball team to a 54-38 win over the Molalla Indians at home on Friday, February 24.
Elyss Clasen hit a three-pointer in the final seconds of the first quarter to put the Outlaws up by 11.
Jenny Boswell was good on four of her five field goal attempts in the first half. At the close of the second period Sisters held a 25-16 advantage over the Indians.
The Outlaws went on an 11-2 run in the first five and a half minutes of the third quarter. Sisters outscored Molalla 16-9 to extend their lead to 41-25.
With just over six minutes remaining in the game Jenny Boswell fouled out. The Outlaws had built up a nice lead to this point and Emily VanBlaricum kept things going and scored nine of her 16 points in the fourth quarter.
“Emily had a great game and really carried us,” said Coach Bill Blevins.
“The big thing for us was that we had four days to prepare for Molalla,” said Blevins. “We knew what they were going to do offensively and we knew how they were going to try and break our press.”
Along with her game high 16 points, VanBlaricum pulled down nine rebounds and had four steals. Boswell finished with 12 points and four steals. Katie Hughes contributed 10 points and three steals and Cammy Jacobson had six points. Clasen and Kali Ulmer added four points each.
The Outlaws (No. 3 seed from the Capital Conference) were to make their second consecutive state playoff appearance on Tuesday, February 28.
Sisters was to travel to face the No. 9 ranked Wildcats of Wilsonville, the No. 2 seed from the Tri-Valley League.
