School budget committee still needs members

The Sisters School Board is looking for three local residents to serve on the school district’s budget committee. The committee is made up of the five school board members and five lay members.

Two of the vacancies were anticipated, created by the June 30, 2005 expiration of the terms of Lon Kellstrom and Karen Friend. The third opening occurred when member Mike Gould was elected to the school board last spring. The committee’s two holdover members are Erik Hoagland and Darren Layne.

The budget committee reviews each year’s proposed school budget and makes recommendations to the board, which has final authority over all money questions.

Terms of the three new members will run until June 30, 2008. Applicants must live in the school district and cannot be officers or employees of the district. Applications must be turned in to the administration office by April 7 and the three appointments will be made by the school board at its April 10 meeting.
