Boys golf team returns three varsity players

The Sisters High School boys golf team will return three players to the varsity squad this season.

Senior Scott Barton returns as the Outlaws’ No. 1 golfer and according to Coach Jeff Barton, Scott will be the premier player in the entire league. Scott has his sights set on doing well in the State Championships this year and will provide leadership to the Outlaw team throughout the season.

Junior Miles Johnston and sophomore Evan Mitchell also return with varsity experience. Jeff Barton is looking for both Johnston and Mitchell to raise their level of play this year.

Contending for the remaining spots on the varsity team are juniors Billy Jacobson, Evan Hjelmstad and Kyler Miller.

Barton told The Nugget that the teams in the league are very evenly matched and that the Outlaws hope to be competitive throughout league play.

“There is no clear favorite as to a top team,” said Jeff Barton. “It’s up for grabs and how we fare this season will depend largely on how the new additions to our team play.”

The Outlaws start their season with a match at Crooked River Ranch on Thursday, March 16.
