SOAR offers spring break programs

The Sisters Organization for Activities and Recreation District will provide a variety of recreation and daycare programs for kids of all ages during the coming spring school vacation.

Sisters School District’s spring break runs March 20-31. The SOAR Community Center will be open weekdays during the two-week vacation from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Clubhouse program for kids pre-kindergarten through fifth grade is a fun enrichment and recreation program that incorporates creative play, arts and craft, games and music.

The program is open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The program has flexible hours and participants can attend on an hourly basis, by the day, or all week. The Clubhouse program fee is $2.50 per hour.

Two special programs are planned:

• Color The World offers a different project each day including arts, music and cultural enrichment.

• Rhythm-alism will give kids an opportunity to explore rhythm, dance and movement and costume making.

A variety of outdoor recreation programs is planned for kids and teens. Outings include indoor rock climbing, skateboarding at Local 5-0, snowshoeing, XC skiing, inner-tubing at Hoodoo, snowboarding and skiing at Hoodoo and a winter survival class. Pre-registration is necessary for these programs as space is limited.

The SOAR Teen Center for middle school and high school age kids will be open. Kids can drop in to the Center whenever they like. The program is supervised and provides kids with a place to be with friends, listen to music, play pool and plan other activities. There is no fee for the Teen Center.

For information or to register call SOAR at 549-2091.
