Jerry Werner featured on Oregon Art Beat

Jerry Werner has done everything from art for Disney to creating his own dining room set. And he has more ideas than he can probably ever use, but that isn’t stopping him from trying.

Tune in to Oregon Art Beat on the stations of Oregon Public Broadcasting on Thursday, March 23, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 26, at 6 p.m. to see a feature on this multi-talented Sisters-area artist.

Werner’s most visible work is a public mural at Barclay Park in downtown Sisters.

The broadcast also features a visit with Alice Wanke Stephens. Born and raised in Oregon, she has been a professional painter for more than 50 years. Using a palette knife and acrylics she paints vibrant landscapes. It’s art for land’s sake, as she intends her work to encourage preservation of the natural world.

Art Beat moves out of the studio to visit the “Native Perspectives on the Trail” exhibition at the Clark County Historical Museum. This exhibition features contemporary American Indian artists responding to themes of the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial. One of the artists is Lillian Pitt, perhaps the best-known Native-American artist in Oregon.
