News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Lacey Pierce Brown passed away on March 6, 2006
It was the night of March 5. There was a strong wind blowing that evening. The night before, the mother and daughter had held hands in the air and talked of flying. As hard as it was for the mother, it was giving the daughter permission to continue the next phase of her journey. The wind continued to blow well into the night.
As the wind diminished into the early hours of Monday morning, there came the brother riding the wind. He extended his hand for Lacey, and she grabbed it with all the strength she could muster. They were off to play again.
It was said by somebody that perhaps the brother needed his sister more than she was needed on this earth. Monday morning came and all was still outside. Lacey was with her brother and all her suffering had come to an end. As we look back on her with great sorrow, we stand in awe of the incredible amount of strength and courage this young lady possessed. She will be missed.
