Sophomores Camille Pederson and Sam Stoneback led the Outlaws to a double-header softball victory over Culver at home on Saturday, March 18. Sisters defeated Culver 6-1 in the first game and 3-1 in the second.
Pederson hit a three-run homer in both games to give the Outlaws all the offense they needed. Stoneback pitched both games in their entirety.
In the first game of the day Culver took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Sisters’ offense kicked into gear in the fourth. Becky Bremer and Stoneback started the inning with singles. Pederson cleared the bases with a 240-foot blast straight away to center field to put the Outlaws up 3-1.
In the bottom of the sixth the Outlaws tacked on three more runs. Stoneback walked, Pederson singled and Cindy Harp got on base with a fielder’s choice. Courtney Metcalf singled to knock in two runs. Metcalf stole a base and then Katie Hughes singled to bring her home and push Sisters to a 6-1 lead.
Stoneback pitched a three-hitter and had seven strike-outs in the game.
In the second game Sisters got all three of their runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Bremer started the Outlaws off with a single and Stoneback got on with a walk. Pederson once again hit a three-run homer and Sisters went up 3-0. Culver scored one run later in the game but Sisters held on for the win.
Pederson and Becky Bremer both had two hits in the game. Courtney Overstreet had three singles and was 3-3 at the plate. Brenna Mooney had a double.
Coach Doug McDonald said, “Sam (Stoneback) was in control both games. Her change-up was the key. She kept hitters off balance both games.”
A day earlier the Lady Outlaws lost 5-4 at home against Summit.
It was a close game and Sisters rallied for two runs in the final inning to bring the score to 5-4, but it wasn’t enough against the 4A Summit Storm.
Becky Bremer and Katie Hughes each had two singles in the game.
Sisters will travel to Molalla on Thursday, March 23.
