The Sisters High School equestrian team is on a winning roll in the midst of its season.
The Sisters riders placed first at the second of three district meets March 18-19 at the Deschutes County Event Center.
Sisters High School has a team of 17 athletes this year and has a rider competing in every event. Sisters has to compete as a large school this year as a result of team size, making it remarkable that the team is placing first in its division.
Individuals placing in the top 10 percent of their events cumulatively at the end of the season qualify to compete at the State meet in May. Individuals placing first, second, or third in two district meets also qualify to compete at the State meet.
Individuals already qualified for State after the first two district meets include: Jennifer Friend in Dressage; Danielle Elder in Over Fences; Rachel Pilliod in Trail and Driving; Alyssa Adler in Saddleseat Equitation; Shelby Ross in In Hand Trail; and the Sisters High Drill Team consisting of Christina Holler, Leslee Zenich, Shayna Forbes, Rachel Pilliod, Jennifer Friend and Aubyn Geser.
Placing in the top 10 percent for this meet were: Jennifer Friend in Dressage and Hunt Seat Equitation; Aubyn Geser in Over Fences and Driving; Shelby Ross in In Hand Trail; Danielle Elder in Over Fences and Hunt Seat Equitation; Rachel Pilliod in Trail and Driving; Alyssa Adler in Saddleseat Equitation; JJ Ashley in Showmanship and Stockseat Equitation; Annie Hancock in Stockseat Equitation; Cassidy Keeton in Breakaway Roping and Steer Daubing; Christina Holler in Keyhole and Figure 8; Shayna Forbes in Pole Bending; the BiRangle team of Shayna Forbes and Jennifer Friend; and the Team Canadian Flags team of JJ Ashley, Danielle Orr, Annie Hancock and Leslee Zenich.
Other team members contributing to the success of the team are Amanda Wimer and Alexa Orr.
New members this year accomplishing personal bests at the last meet include Lindsey Reynolds and Britny Haney.
The final district meet will be held April 28-30 at the Deschutes County Event Center.
