Sisters hosts Road to Reno jazz concert

Sisters High School auditorium will play host on Wednesday April 26 to a unique Road to Reno Jazz Concert.

The concert, which starts at 7 p.m., will feature bands traveling through Sisters en route to the 44th annual Reno International Jazz Festival. Several college bands will be stopping in Sisters to perform, including two Jazz Ensembles from the University of Oregon, as well as the Lane College Jazz Ensemble.

The Sisters High School Varsity Jazz Band will also perform.

All the bands playing on the Sisters concert have regularly placed in the top five in their respective divisions of approximately twenty schools at the Reno Jazz Festival. Further, the University of Oregon has been awarded first place university band each year they have participated.

The Sisters Road to Reno Concert is sponsored by the Sisters Jazz Festival. The location and date have allowed Sisters students to spend quality performance time with some of the top college jazz programs and directors from the Northwest including the University of Oregon, Lane College, Western Oregon University and Mt. Hood College.

This year over 350 college, high school and middle school ensembles will perform at the Reno Festival, where nearly 50 top jazz music professionals will provide workshops and clinics for participating groups.
