Tickets still available for Starry Nights Concert

A limited number of tickets are available for the upcoming Sisters Starry Nights Concert; they can be purchased at Leavitt’s, 100 E. Cascade Ave.

The show is set for Saturday, April 22, at 7 p.m., and will feature two artists who delighted the Sisters crowds during their past performances at Starry Nights: acclaimed singer-songwriter Leslie Satcher and dynamic new country-rock act, Hanna-McEuen.

Satcher, who first performed at Starry Nights in 2002 as the guest of Vince Gill and Amy Grant, is considered one of the top writers in Nashville. Artists including Martina McBride, Willie Nelson, Lee Ann Womack, Patty Loveless, Trisha Yearwood and Randy Travis have cut her songs, and her hits include “When God Fearin’ Women Get the Blues” for McBride and “I Said a Prayer” for Pam Tillis.

The Texas native released her first album, “Love Letters,” in 2001, showcasing her gifts as both a writer and a vocalist. Her recently released second CD, “Creation,” further explores her Texas roots and the joy of finding true love.

Completing the bill is Hanna-McEuen, whose opening set for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band last year at Starry Nights led to many requests to “bring the boys back!” With their unique musical pedigree — Jaime Hanna and Jonathan McEuen are the sons of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band founders Jeff Hanna and John McEuen, and their mothers are identical twins — Hanna-McEuen combine the influences of such artists as The Everly Brothers, Chris Isaak and Dwight Yoakam to create a sound uniquely their own.

Their self-titled debut album received critical raves, and it was called “the best country debut of the year” by both Performing Songwriter Magazine and Music Row Magazine.

For their Starry Nights performance, they will be joined by their band members, who are also accomplished second generation musicians. Bass player Teddy Jack is the son of renowned singer-songwriter Leon Russell, while drummer Jesse Siebenberg is the son of Supertramp drummer Bob Siebenberg.

Among the highlights of the concert will be performance of Sisters Elementary school students Isabel Richter, Adam Novotny, Nathan Kaping, Megan Englich-Mills, Crystal Reifschneider and Naomi Eckstine in a number with Leslie Satcher, and Sisters High School students Shannon Hanson and Amanda Sarles singing with Hanna-McEuen.

Lobby entertainment before the show and during intermission will be provided by Sisters’ award-winning student musicians from the Sisters Middle School and Sisters High School jazz ensembles, under the direction of Jody Henderson. Lobby doors open at 5:30 p.m. and a light dinner menu will be available along with a raffle and silent auction.

The silent auction will feature a framed copy of the Leslie Satcher-penned Gretchen Wilson hit, “Politically Uncorrect,” which Satcher has autographed. Satcher and her husband, Dave Allen, have also donated a guitar to the silent auction, which has been autographed by their good friend, country music superstar Vince Gill.

Sisters Starry Nights has earned over a half million dollars in net proceeds for the Sisters Schools Foundation since the event’s inception in 1997.

Headliners donate their time for Starry Nights, which provides vital funding for programs and activities at Sisters Elementary, Middle and High Schools.

General admission tickets are priced at $45 each. For more information, call Leavitt’s at 549-6451.
