Letters to the Editor 04/26/04

To the Editor:

Mickey Duehren’s letter in the April 19 edition of The Nugget may have given the impression that the Sisters Garden Club was unhappy with the Rotary Club’s use of donated funds for the memorial garden at the west entrance to Sisters.

This cannot be farther from the truth. When the Rotary Club showed us landscape plans and asked for financial help we were delighted to be able to comply. After all, we are the Garden Club. What better use of our money could there be but to help build a garden?

Although the garden is low maintenance, we have been approached about the possibility of contributing a little labor on occasion. The garden club decided to consider. We maintain two sizable plots on the east side and we get tired! The decision is still out.

If any readers would like to influence us and perhaps donate a few hours of garden labor to their city, we welcome new members. Come join us! Pull a few weeds and meet new friends.

Meanwhile, congratulations to the Rotary Club on a great project to help improve our city. We are thrilled to be included

Sincerely,

Kathy Plank

President, Sisters Garden Club
