The Sisters High School boys golf team came out on top at the Capital Conference match at Mallard Creek in Sweet Home on Tuesday, April 18.
Sisters took first place honors with a team score of 322. Stayton was runner-up with 341 and Sweet Home placed third just one stroke back at 342. Fourth place went to Cascade (355), fifth to Molalla (356) and North Marion finished at 361.
Scott Barton carded a four-under-par 68 to win individual tournament honors. Barton’s 68 was his best round this season. Miles Johnston also scored a season best at 79. Evan Mitchell shot an 86, Billy Jacobsen an 89 and Kyler Miller a 99.
Barton is having a stellar season and making a name for himself in the conference and around the state. Scott has won all five of the Conference tournaments the team has played this season and is six for seven overall. Barton’s only tournament loss was to two-time state champion Jesse Schutte in the Invitational tournament played last week where three of the top teams in the state were represented.
Scott is pleased with the season he’s having and the success his team is having this year.
Barton said, “Our team has had a great season so far. We’ve come a long way since the beginning of the season. The most enjoyable thing for me so far has been to watch the team as a whole come together and play well when it counts.”
Coach Jeff Barton said, “We’re playing very well and have established ourselves as one of the favorites for the District Championship.”
