Softball team has rough time on the diamond

The Lady Outlaws softball team lost 13-2 at Cascade on Tuesday, April 25. The game was called in the fifth inning under the 10-run rule.

Becky Bremer hit a two-run RBI triple in the fifth and was 2-3 at the plate.

Sisters’ two top pitchers were unable to play and Coach Doug McDonald said he had to put a couple of players in to pitch in a tough situation.

Freshman Hillary Renz pitched the first two innings and Becky Bremer pitched the final two.

“Both of these girls did well in their first varsity action for the season,” said McDonald.

At home two days later, Sisters lost 8-0 to the Stayton Eagles.

Sam Stoneback, who’s been out due to illness, was back and pitched the entire game.

“I’m proud of the way Sam battled,” said McDonald. “She’s a tough kid and always puts the team before herself.”

Camille Pedersen hit a double in the contest and Courtney Metcalf singled.

“The game was closer than the score indicates,” said McDonald. “We had eight errors in the game and one or two throwing errors led to four or five runs.”

McDonald commended Stayton for their fine play.

“Stayton played exceptional defense and put the ball in play,” said McDonald. “They’re a good team.”
