News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Students in the Americana Project, sponsored by the Sisters Folk Festival will release their new CD titled “Mosaic” at the Americana Project benefit concert set for Saturday, May 13, at the Sisters High School auditorium.
The CD features original work by this year’s exceptional class of songwriters and players.
Those songs will be showcased in a full band format at the concert, which is set for 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 students and are available through Sisters High School Americana Project students, Angeline’s Bakery & Café, Paulina Springs Books and the Sisters High School Media Arts Center.
Performing students include: Benji Nagel, Raman Ellis, Monica Offield, Travis Ehrenstrom, Travis Myrick, Sam Pyke, Kyle Bowen and others with members of the Bond Brothers, Blue D’Arts, Double Leaner, Stone Soup and Dennis McGregor.
This concert is produced by students of the Americana Project class at Sisters High School, as part of the program’s effort to teach young people about event production.
Over the past six years the Americana Project has taught young people in Sisters to write, perform, record and play their own original songs. In addition, these students also learn the historical and cultural significance of American Roots Music.
