The boys golf team finished second at the Capital Conference match held at Glaze Meadow at Black Butte Ranch on Tuesday, May 2.

“The course was fabulous and in really good shape but the ball just went further than everyone thought,” said Coach Jeff Barton. “The course was hard and fast and the ball wouldn’t hold on the greens.
“We had a mediocre performance today,” added Barton. “We’re going to have to do better at Districts.”
On Friday, May 5, the boys golf team played in a five-team tournament at Aspen Lakes.
Siuslaw, defending state champs, won the tournament with a team score of 325. Siuslaw’s two-time individual state champion, Jesse Schutte, took medalist honors with a 69, three under par.
Mt. View was runner up at 349 and La Pine placed third with a score of 422. Burns shot a 431.
Sisters players Billy Jacobson and Miles Johnston had the flu and were unable to play in the match which resulted in an incomplete score for the Outlaws as a team.
Scott Barton led the Outlaws in individual scoring with a 70, two under par. Evan Mitchell carded a career high 82 and Kyler Miller shot a 93.
Coach Barton said, “Kyler has been struggling and scoring a 93 today was good progress for him.”
Both of Barton’s individual losses this season were to state champ Schutte — each by one stroke.
Districts will be Monday and Tuesday, May 8-9 at the Arrowhead Course in Molalla.
“Our goal is to win the tournament but it will be nip and tuck,” said Barton.
