Hospice of Sisters recently opened an office within 5 Elements Healing Arts Center in the Sisters Art Works Building, at 204 W. Adams Ave.
Hospice of Sisters helps those with a limited life expectancy and their families live as fully and completely as possible. In addition, Hospice of Sisters offers a Transitions program, bereavement support and volunteer opportunities.
Hospice of Sisters seeks to enhance the quality of life for the terminally ill patient and the family.
By providing comfort care and pain control methods such as acupuncture and massage therapy, the patient can remain as active and in control of life as possible.
The Transitions program is designed to help individuals and their families deal with a life-limiting illness. Transitions helps individuals and their families navigate services in the community, supports caregivers and monitors ongoing needs.
An interdisciplinary team of staff and volunteers provide a supportive and nurturing environment for those who’ve lost a loved one. Bereavement services include a variety of grief support groups, individual counseling and connecting with a volunteer. Other programs in Sisters include a children’s grief support within the schools and Camp Sunrise, a three-day camp for bereaved young people ages 7-14 held each year at Suttle Lake.
Volunteers are the cornerstone of Hospice of Sisters services, bringing their interest, skills and time to patients and their families. Volunteers attend training, which covers all aspect of hospice work. Opportunities include patient and family support, caregiver respite, Volunteer on Call, vigil, bereavement, office support, errands, special projects and events, such as the Festival of Trees.
