New carpet care company opens

Bob Nieri may be relatively new to Sisters, but he’s not new to the carpet cleaning business. He has owned a Duracare business for 20 years and in that time, he’s figured out what it takes to make happy customers.

“I show up on time, do a good job and give a fair price,” he said.

Nieri and his family arrived in Sisters a little over a year ago. After building a house, he needed something to do and since he was well versed in the Duracare method, he decided to start the business in Sisters.

The Nieris moved here from the Santa Clarita Valley in California and still have a Duracare business ticking along down there.

The foam extraction method utilizes a top-of-the-line machine. Water is heated, then mixed with the cleaning chemicals and applied to the carpet using high pressure. An equally strong vacuum then extracts most of the liquid from the carpet, leaving it slightly damp-feeling. The carpet dries completely in 3-5 hours.

Nieri cleans carpets, upholstery and does restoration work. His most interesting restoration job to date involved cleaning up after a pipe burst in the locker room at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

“We were working around all those 7-foot-tall basketball players who were just about ready to start changing for the game,” he said.

Business partner Keith Sampson came on board to do the marketing side of things. Sampson and his family also live in Sisters. Both men are interested in allowing their business to give back to the community, and a portion of proceeds from each job supports Sisters Young Life, a non-denominational youth program.
