News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The David Letterman Show is coming to Sisters Rodeo with comedian Andy Kindler and a film crew. Letterman himself will not be part of this visit.
Kindler, a Letterman regular as a stand-up comic, is stretching his horizons beyond the Los Angeles and Manhattan skylines to cross the nation for events like the Sisters Rodeo.
“I thought it was a prank,” said Bonnie Malone, rodeo director of advertising, “then decided to return the call. It really was a Letterman producer.”
“Andy did the Superbowl for us, and he felt it was too big a production,” said producer, Chris Maloney. “He said he would like to do smaller events in smaller communities where he can interview some colorful characters. One of the staff in the production department is from Oregon and suggested Sisters Rodeo.”
Kindler likes to meet people on the street and in the arena stands for his interviews.
He’s interested in talking to the “regular” people, the ones who give any event its real personality.
The six-member crew will be at the rodeo and in Sisters, June 9-11.
