Sheriff’s deputies cited a man for menacing on Saturday night, after a tense moment when the man allegedly came at them with a shovel.
According to sheriff’s office reports, deputies were on foot patrol in the campground area behind Sisters Rodeo Grounds when they came upon the man who had apparently been using a shovel to douse a fire.
He allegedly came at the deputies with a “fierce” look on his face. Deputies drew their sidearms while yelling “police officers.”
The man, who was apparently intoxicated, complied with orders to get on the ground, apologizing profusely.
