News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Work crews have laid water and sewer lines and are finishing up electrical, cable and telephone trenches. By the end of this week they’ll be rough grading a new frontage road along Highway 20 at Sisters Inn & RV Park.
Dave Elliott, who manages the motel and RV park, said the frontage road has yet to be named. It will serve four lots. The lot nearest to the park’s driveway is slated for a bank, Elliott said.
“Other than that, no word,” he said. “They’re trying to market the lots as mixed use retail/commercial with residential units on the top.”
Todd Taylor (of Hap Taylor & Sons) is the owner of the property.
Elliott said the extensive construction work hasn’t posed a problem for the inn.
“I don’t think I’ve seen a volume impact at all,” Elliott said, noting that occupancy is up from last year.
He said that not having irrigation has been the biggest problem associated with the construction. He said he’s had to pilot RVs to their spaces to make sure they get around the work, but that has not been a hardship.
“It’s a little messy,” he allowed.
The RV Park is playing host this week to a group of vintage Airstream trailer enthusiasts.
