News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Fluid Images of Sisters is used to working with prestigious clients to create film and video with the company’s unique Strada camera crane.
That doesn’t mean they can’t get a little star-struck.
Bob Johnson of Fluid Images got to spend much of Wednesday, June 28, with Arnold Palmer, who was in the area to look over the land where his signature golf course will be developed in Tumalo.
“In my eyes he’s the legend,” said Johnson. “I could never have met a more class-act individual. Just real, down-to-earth nice man. It was an absolute honor and privilege to meet a man like Arnold Palmer. It was one of the greatest thrills I’ve had probably in my life.”
Palmer’s company is designing the Tribute course, which will be part of the Thornburgh Resort near Cline Buttes.
Johnson said Fluid Images was filming his visit, where Palmer got to “see the land for himself for the first time and actually walk a few of the holes.”
The land is still in sagebrush and juniper, but the golf legend was able to get a feel for the lay of the land.
Fluid Images is working with developer David Chapman, who has developed several noted golf resorts in the West. The Sisters company is doing film and video production work for several of Chapman’s projects.
The company has won numerous awards for its advertising work and has filmed several major sporting events including the Olympics and the X-Games. The Strada crane has also been used as a substitute for helicopter shots in movies, including the blockbuster “Titanic.”
