News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
David Jacobs-Strain will take the stage at Angeline’s Bakery on Saturday, July 15, during a Central Oregon stop on a national tour.
Jacobs-Strain, who has appeared at the Sisters Folk Festival and opened for John Hiatt at a Sisters Starry Nights concert, has gained national acclaim for his powerful, blues-based guitar work.
His CD release “An Ocean or a Teardrop” demonstrated that he also has a strong songwriting vision.
The CD showcased a broadening of his musical palette to include a talented ensemble of players and a variety of folk music styles.
He has been rated by several music publications as one of the most promising young guitarists in America.
Jacobs-Strain will be joined for this concert by special guest Benji Nagel.
Nagel, who graduated from Sisters High School this year, is one of the ace performers developed through the Sisters Folk Festival’s Americana Project.
Nagel has excelled as a guitarist, showing his adaptability by moving fluidly between folk, rock and jazz styles, performing through the Americana Project, Sisters Starry Nights and with the high school Jazz Band.
Nagel is pursuing a career in music.
The show starts at 7 p.m. in the courtyard at Angeline’s Bakery on Main Avenue.
