The Deschutes Public Library will offer a series of free computer classes next month through OSU Extension’s BIT Mobile at the Sisters Library.
The BIT Mobile is OSU Extension’s mobile technology classroom. Instructors offer classes to help students of all ages build their ability and confidence in using computers and other technology. Since class sizes are limited, early sign-up is recommended. The class schedule is as follows:
Thursday, August 3:
• Advanced Internet and E-mail, 2 to 4 p.m. Participants will learn tips and advanced techniques for using the Internet and e-mail. They will learn to send attachments via e-mail, how to refine Web searching to locate specific Web sites, information about online shopping and auctions (i.e. eBay).
• Intro to Digital Photography, 6 to 8 p.m. Participants will be exposed to digital cameras, photo editing software and printing (cameras are provided for student use during the class).
Students learn the basics of Nikon point-and-shoot cameras, take and manipulate digital photographs, then print a photograph.
Friday, August 4:
• eBay Buying, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students learn about eBay, the world’s largest online auction service. The class details how to search for items for sale, research values and warnings about common pitfalls.
• eBay Selling, 2 to 4 p.m. Students learn how to list and sell items on eBay. This class details tips and tricks to help get the best value for your sale items.
Attendees of eBay classes must have a previously established eBay account and know their account name and password or have their e-mail address and password and arrive an hour prior to class to create an account.
