Ticket deadlines for folk festival approaching

Deadlines are fast approaching for Sisters Folk Festival "early bird" tickets.

On August 1, the All Event Badge price goes up from $60 to $75 and the Americana Song Academy registration fee will increase from $300 to $375.

The Dave Carter Memorial Songwriting Contest deadline for entries is July 31 (postmark).

The Sisters Folk Festival 2006 is looking forward to another great year of performances, workshops, jam sessions and Night Owl Showcases.

The festival welcomes back Ruthie Foster as the 2006 Encore Performer. Foster's songs are a hybrid of blues, gospel, roots and folk music rich with honest spirituality and emotion.

Her vocal abilities have critics comparing her to Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin.

Other acts at the festival include Chris Smither, Harry Manx, Old School Freight Train, The White Buffalo, Meg Hutchinson, Madrigaia, Ellis Paul, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Darrell Scott and more.

All tickets are held in will call (available at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 8 at the Village Green Main Stage).

The festival started in 1995 and has since grown into a nationally recognized event.

Tickets are available in Sisters at Paulina Springs Books and Angeline's Bakery and Café, online at http://www.sistersfolkfestival.org or by calling 549-4979.
